Super Bowl...Abortion...what next?

http://www.unicef.org/newsline/02pr07iwd.htm

Any reasonable human should want to take steps to end needless abortion. It is a complicated subject about life, regardless of your beliefs or religion. There are obvious stressful situations and moments when the right to have an abortion is a compassionate choice for a woman. Of course, we are also faced with the religious mindset that actually every egg and sperm on earth should unite because that is what God wants! Until modern medical techniques, God randomly took many more countless lives of children through It's poorly designed and painful birthing process [a form of abortion]. And in third world countries [that God seems to overlook], children die from poor birthing procedures, disease, starvation, and brutal governments.

The religious Barna Institute finds that 70% of America's abortions are performed on Catholic and Protestant women. Where is the power of God? The possibility of any God existing would be greatly enhanced if It's believers would walk the walk! In accordance with a recent Cal Thomas column, that's 35,000,000 abortions by Godly followers since the 70's. Once the Christians set an example of reducing those numbers, we could effectively work on the 1% of Jews and 27% of non-believers that have abortions........

And why would any caring God advice humans to procreate with no regard to reality, responsibility or circumstance when It has given us the intellect to understand that off springs should be cared for and protected in a reasonable and humane fashion in this chaotic world.

It is very foolish when religions promote there is no need to be thoughtful and careful about responsible conception [oh, I forgot..."faith in abstinence"]. Third world countries are having children with nothing to look forward to but a death sentence.....and that is extremely detrimental to the health of the ones that do survive.

The first step in reducing abortion is education and contraception.....and continued religious resistance to contraception promotes random and uncontrolled births that end up as abortions and other deaths.

Most animal’s numbers are controlled by predators and nature. Humans have evolved with the intelligence to control their offspring based on responsible decisions and the ability to provide for their early years.

Using that unique power we could minimize abortions and better the lives of all newborns.....if religions would side with reason over questionable dogma.

Just maybe, there is a story out there about the mother who would not see the Super Bowl game someday because she tried to give birth against doctor's advice...lost the baby...and died!

And if there is no Heaven....and no one knows......what did she give her life for?

We need reason on both sides of the abortion issue...

Charlie Daniels and the "Hand of God".....

I have always enjoyed the music of Charlie Daniels going all the way back to his pot smoking hell raising days of "Long Haired Country Boy."  It was sad to see that he like all the rest of us are subject to having a stroke.....and he had one!  His comment about the matter was he could see the "Hand of God" in every moment of the health emergency he faced.
Charlie reveals that his stroke was triggered by high blood pressure. "It had gotten higher than what I realized it was," he explains. "We have taken steps to remedy that, and we are back in the game."

Throughout his health scare, Charlie says he took comfort in realizing that "the fingerprints of God were all over" his experience ... pointing out that a plane was immediately available to take him from the slopes to Denver, and that the local hospital in Durango had only recently begun stocking the drug used to break up the blood clot in his brain. "It's just an absolute fact that God was looking after me," he says.
http://www.theboot.com/2010/01/22/charlie-daniels-stroke/

Men built the plane, developed the medicine and built the hospital that comforted this wealthy traveling musician.  So it appears God gave him a life threatning stroke to test man's ever growing skills?  God must have no problem using one of his believers as a rat in an experiment?  And if Heaven is a better place to be, why would Charlie want God to save him anyway? He could play “Long Haired Country Boy for Jesus’s personal enjoyment for eternity!  Religions need to try and bring reason and reality into their thoughts.

I wonder if Charlie Daniels can see the "Hand of God" in the tragedy, death and suffering going on in Haiti.  Is God just testing those Haitians so see if man has built efficient rescue forces?  God has no worry about taking tens of thousands of life for a test......

Men's minds work in strange ways....and that is why there are 10,000 religions!

Thank evolved common goodness for science, reason and technology!

Haiti..Inteligent Design or Chaos?

Quote:
Surely, there should be the occasional time and place when circumstances transcend the usual and free us from the race-baiting and ignorance-pandering panhandling that characterizes so much of American politics: When God and Satan are given a holiday from the news cycle. When a president can be granted the pure motives of a good nation. When science isn't an insult to the divine and no demon earns credit for human misery.

Haiti has received billions from the US since the Clinton days....and the money has gone directly to the pockets of the thug regime that governs this impoverished people.

Haiti is 96% Christian hanging on to the cultism of Voodoo to scare away evil spirits. There are missionaries on every corner trying to convince the suffering Haitians that a different brand of Jesus will solve their problems and offer a better life. The same ones that advise them to avoid contraceptives because it is sinful to be responsible about new births.

It is right for the world community to show compassion to anyone suffering from natural disasters and we always lead those causes...

It is also correct to believe with out a coordinated effort by the free world democracies to free Haitians and stabilize their government, there will not be a better future for the Haitians that survive this.

A better life for Haitians and other suffering slave societies will not come through religion or leaving the brutal governments intact....

Chaos in Haiti....is a product of a world with no compassionate gods.

Moral relativism....a product of the Utopian socialist mind which proposes that all governments could be as good or better than America's!

We live in a world of chance that depends on the evolved goodness of man...

96% of Haitians are Christian......

http://atheism.about.com/library/irf...lirf_haiti.htm

80% Catholic and 16% Protestant and still 50% of Haitians practice Voodoo.
There are missionaries everywhere trying to convert Haiti's citizens to their form of Christianity and then Pat Robertson tells us God is punishing them for making a pact with the Devil.....and many religious missionaries try to get Haitians not to use contraceptives....go figure!

It seems like when you take poor uneducated people brutalized by a violent government and feed them religion it makes no difference. Maybe a new regime promoting freedom and jobs would give Haiti the boost it needs and do much more than Clinton pouring 3 billion dollars into their economy.

They need compassion and medical help now....but religion and socialism do not make healthy countries.

It is said that America is 80% Christian and going more socialist everyday...what does our future hold?

Think about it.....

The plight of arrogant and pious religions…

Radical Islam wants to kill those who don't accept their dogma. At least Christians haven't reached that point in recent times, but the arrogance and pious preaching is rampant everywhere, and its intent is to destroy the character and importance of non-believers they find so threatening.

Bill O'Reilly [who was kissing up to Ann Coulter last week] was rude and arrogant in his interview a few days ago with Richard Dawkins on his newest book. What was really amazing to me was that in his rant, O'Reilly actually said he didn't know if Jesus was God and was hedging his bet in that direction because science can't prove there is not a God! Dawkins was trying to make the point that "faith beliefs" should not be taught in science classes and O'Reilly suggested Dawkins was a fascist!

No wonder non-believers see Christians as closed minded, rude and arrogant when it comes to science....because they are!

There are 10,000 religions that don't agree with one another.....but their fear of God can make them unreasonably difficult when discussing reason and facts! It can be quite maddening!

Republicans should get their dogma satisfaction in church, and keep it out of government. The sad thing is that Fox News is becoming Faith News and that is sad for a channel that reports so fairly on fiscal conservatism!

At Christmas, Christians really show their fangs...isn't that un-Jesus like?

The pious, arrogant and embarrassing Ann Coulter.....

You can find her everywhere...Ann Coulter’s Christian rant is never ending…..and it harms the conservative cause.

Contrary to what we would expect, religions are the first to… judge… throw stones… condemn….oppress….manipulate…..or attack those who disagree with them.

Well, it’s that time again for Christian’s to stand up and indignantly criticize non-believers for rejecting their religious dogma. The interesting thing is this happens because “the attack on Christmas’ thing has been created by Christians, themselves. And they wonder why non-believers react and defend their non-belief opinions about supernatural gods.

Christians have a special day to celebrate the birth of Jesus [if Jesus ever existed…25th of Dec. was not his birth date] and they demand that non-believers ignore it with eyes shut and that businesses advertise according to their Biblical rules or suffer the consequences. All of this happening in a country where fundamentalist Christians really desire to control the free market in what they claim is a “Christian country.” We were formed as a “free” country that has allowed religion to thrive! Imagine what it would be like if our government should become a Christian Theocracy!

In a free country, if a business wants to stay generic by using Happy Holidays or Season’s Greetings, why should Christians be able to harm them or affect their business by shoving fundamentalism down their throats? It seems like the Christian thing to do would be to celebrate their chosen belief and pray for all of those who don’t get it and let businesses rise or fall by their own actions.

Christians are at their worst when they arrogantly and piously attack others with opposing beliefs! We are lucky to have freedom of belief…..Christians should take a deep breath and back off!

Oh where oh where has our common sense gone?

I’m 66 years old and am grateful for my life in America.

When I was born, the United States had already implemented social programs for the good of all. I have lived through the feeble attempts of our government to manage social security, welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, the Post Office, drug wars and immigration issues. I have watched the smartest and best Military in the world be misfunded, overfunded, underfunded and bogged down with inappropriate congressional pork projects attached to its funding needs.

At the age of 66, I can clearly see the abuse and incompetence of government management in our lives and realize I will probably not live to see how much worse it can really get. My great fear is that our children and grandchildren will add “government healthcare and poorly thought out energy schemes” to the list of failures, while trying to define why America’s shining light to the world grew dim, and government stole away their freedoms and dreams.

Our forefathers established freedom, liberal democracy and capitalism…..and we are trading that for the greatest Ponzi scheme of all time….socialism. Shame on us!

America is not the enemy!....have a great Memorial Day!

This is the day to honor the American soldier and the freedoms they protect.

Every memorial day I watch the celebrations and tributes for our great men and women in uniform. The heartbreaking stories of soldiers that have suffered disfiguring burns, loss of arms and legs, total incapacitation or even death to protect our freedoms and give freedom to others, are emotionally overwhelming. In interview after interview, our severely injured men and women express their love of life and show no bitterness to the ones they gave up so much for and, at the same time, express remorse for the innocent lives that were lost in the search of a more peaceful world. They clearly define why the cause of freedom is just.

The conduct and strength of our soldiers should above all make one undeniable statement. We live in a complex and brutal world where the thugs of totalitarian regimes will torture, brutalize and rape their slaves while using the same ruthless tactics on the citizens and soldiers of the free world that come to their aid. We should take note that the enemies of a free world do not regret any loss of life and could not achieve a greater hate for freedom or a greater disrespect for their own people….regardless of any actions we take to defend ourselves and others.

The absolute power of totalitarians is a true evil and is not a moral equivalent to the hope and dreams sought by free societies.

Our totalitarian enemies do not want our way of life and freedom….they want to end it by destroying us!

We have to fight evil because it is there….not because we created it!

We should stand tall and proud today for the men and women who fight for a free world!

Can America overcome Socialsim and Religion?

About one year ago I decided to take action and speak out on issues that are dividing the Republican Party.  The Party I have always voted for and believed in on most issues has been brought to its knees by fundamentalist religion.   I thought talking to my religious friends and emphasizing that the real values of conservative politics…..freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans….would be a piece of cake!  Not so fast….

I see no evidence that anyone is an expert about the subject of God, but I do respect the precious freedom to choose our beliefs and believe liberal democracy and freedom deliver the best protection of that right.   During our short time on Earth it seems only reasonable that all freedom loving people should band together to protect our freedom….regardless of religious views.  But all fundamentalist religions that profess to be compassionate and forgiving have an overwhelming problem.  When it comes to compromise in government to protect everyone’s freedoms and maintain a functional society, religion’s dogmatic and unbendable beliefs in their chosen God present an impossible road block to overcome.   The Evangelical Christians, for example, continue to threaten staying home and not voting if the conservative candidate is pro-choice or not anti-gay…or wants separation of church and state…..even though they would agree with the candidate on the big issue of individual freedom and democracy.

First, we should define what rights that all people have in a democracy…

Source-The Blue Book of Freedom-R.J. Rummel…..”Since 1941, there has been a vigorous international affirmation of these and other human rights. Many a nation’s constitution has included them, and they now are part of an International Bill of Rights. The latter comprises Articles 1 and 55 of the 1945 United Nations Charter, the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, and the two international covenants passed by the General Assembly in 1966, one on civil and political rights and the other on economic, social, and cultural rights. The most basic of all these rights are those defining what governments cannot do to their people. From those stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, these include everyone’s right to:

---life, liberty, and personal security;

---recognition as a person before the law, equal protection of the law, remedy for violation of their rights, fair and public trial, and the presumption of their innocence until proven guilty if charged with a penal offense;

---leave any country and return, and seek asylum from persecution;

---the secret ballot and periodic elections, and freely chosen representatives;

---form and join trade unions;

---equal access to public service, and participation in cultural life.

---freedom of movement and residence, thought, conscience and religion, opinion. And expression;

---peaceful assembly and association; and as a parent to choose their children’s education.

---freedom from slavery or servitude, torture, degrading or inhuman treatment or

punishment, arbitrary arrest or detention or exile;

---

freedom from deprivation of nationality, arbitrary deprivation of property, and being compelled to join an association.

These human rights define democratic freedom. A people’s freedom of thought,

expression, religion, and association are basic, as are the secret ballot, periodic elections, and the right to representation. In short, these rights say that people have a right to be free.”

These rights are not based on religions…but do protect them.   With out saying it….and at the same time denying it…..all fundamentalist religious movements believe life on earth is doomed unless everyone succumbs to their rules of  God…and also battle to weave their beliefs into government.  And of course, a Utopia in heaven will only come from joining their religious beliefs and participating in spreading the word while you are alive on Earth.

Since there are at least 10,000 known religions on Earth the odds aren’t too good of choosing or finding the right God….it is mostly determined by location of your birth.

It’s too bad that each religion can’t look at the other ones and see the damage done to mankind by mixing dangerously narrow religious logic with government.  Every religion can easily point out the questionable beliefs of another religion, but not one religion is able to present a clear and provable scenario that they possess the true path to God…. otherwise we would not be discussing religious credibility.

Organized religions have been on this same path for over 2000 years and it appears they will cause their man created prophecies of doom to be fulfilled simply by their unwillingness to compromise on the serious issues facing all of mankind.  This seems immoral to me.

If I am wrong about God, I will be very aware of my mistake during my eternity in Hell.   But if there is not a God……the people of God will selfishly profit at mankind’s expense…..and in death…. never realize they were wrong.

If we join together on promoting true freedom and liberal democracy….it will insure the survival of churches and all cherished beliefs……that’s a good thing!

Conservative and Independent pundits should lighten up on condemning secularism.

As a secular conservative I agree with most things that Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh say about Secular Progressives and their addiction to utopian dreams. << MORE >>
