"I’ve written at length on Barack Obama’s foreign policy failings, which are legion. For a president who ran an election campaign promising to raise “America’s standing” in the world, he is doing a spectacularly bad job. Obama seems bored and disinterested in foreign policy, and has made little effort to strengthen existing alliances or to build the kinds of enduring friendships with key foreign leaders that are vital for projecting strong US leadership across the globe. He has even treated America’s closest ally with utter contempt, throwing the Anglo-American Special Relationship onto the bonfire.
Without a doubt, the president is leading the United States on the path of decline as a world power, a dangerous course which a future US administration will have to reverse. Barack Obama cuts an increasingly lonely and at times isolated figure on the world stage, with few real friends, but confronted with the same array of deadly enemies that his predecessor faced. America, and the world, deserves better."

"Still, it's worth wondering: Would Sarkozy have fought French public opinion and sent more troops to Afghanistan (he has refused) if he had been cultivated more by Obama? Would Israel's Netanyahu be willing to take more risks in the (moribund) Middle East peace process if he believed he could count on this U.S. president? Would Karzai cooperate more closely with U.S. commanders in the field if Obama had embraced him?"
So much for the magical communication powers of the arrogant and naive President Obama.
He is still the Pied Piper to some.....leading us to dismal places! Thankfully, change will come starting with the November elections.

Tonight, on 03-05-10 I watched a great presentation by Glen Beck on the problem of our educational system indoctrinating our children to progressivism. He touched on many points I believe are important to maintain the liberty and freedoms our forefathers established for us. It can easily be shown that our government school systems and universities are liberally dominated and controlled and use that power to promote Utopian socialist thinking. Beck even used the example of Hugo Chavez saying that children in
And at the end, Beck mentions that George Washington said we could not have a free democratic society without God and the Bible. It is simply not true that
Beck can spin it how he wants, but our forefathers, regardless of their religious beliefs, established a government separated from religion which allows freedom and the pursuit of happiness to flourish. In that free environment religions have done very well….BUT THEY ARE NOT THE REASON FOR AMERICA’S SUCCESS!
But the most amazing thing to me is that Beck does not recognize that the indoctrination of children to anyone’s chosen religion is just as unfair to the children as brainwashing them to idea of Marxist Utopias. We should teach children about freedom, capitalism and democracy because it is proven by history to be the best government for all people. It is irresponsible to indicate that democracy relies on Christianity or any other faith. Liberal Democracy encompasses all beliefs and should be blind to the myth of selling “one true religion!”
Beck, correctly, does not want to force Utopian Socialist ideas on young children in our schools and, rightfully, wants them to learn the principles of our constitution. But one of the biggest problems the world faces is indoctrinating children from young ages to believe that the religion inherent to their locale is the “one true religion” and should overcome all the others in man’s search for gods.
I use common sense to agree with Beck on government, but common sense can not explain man’s dependence on the at least 10,000 religions on earth with the most troubling ones growing at a rapid rate. Why not let our children learn, mature and intelligently choose a religion…or none… if they feel the calling?

The Democrats planned and promoted the “Mortgage and Credit Card Utopia” for every American regardless of credit rating or ability to pay. Many Republicans fell for it and joined in on the craziness leading to our recent financial collapse. And now Obama and the Democrats are promoting a “Health Care Utopia” for every American with no regard to the costs or burdens to a struggling economy, and whining that Republicans won’t join in. Could it be that Republicans learn from their mistakes and reality... and Democrats don’t?
Obama’s idea of bi-partisanship is for the conservatives to drop all objections to his big government plan and accept his ideas. Today’s summit was an embarrassing failure for America and greatly diminished the office of the Presidency!
As all the other Democrats said during the nominating campaign…..Obama is naïve and unprepared to be President…..and they were right!
Every time Reid and Pelosi open their mouths….another conservative is assured of winning in the November election……
And all the while, Obama keeps repeating….”the election is over and I won”…..and that is his license to cram bloated government programs down our throats! He has the Democrat majority to do it….so what is he waiting for? Maybe he doesn’t like the sound of “a one term President!”

Question? For those who are not skeptical of BO’s extravagant spending on social programs, are you concerned that he has quit funding the science of the space program and is handing the future of space exploration to China and Russia?
“At the peak of the Apollo program, NASA was consuming almost 4 percent of the federal budget, which today would be about $150 billion. The manned space program will die for want of $3 billion a year — one-300th of the stimulus with its make-work projects that will leave not a trace on the national consciousness.
As for President Barack Obama’s commitment to the new NASA mission: Has he given a single speech, devoted an iota of political capital to it?
Obama’s NASA budget captures the difference in spirit between Kennedy and Obama. Kennedy’s politics was an expansive, bold, outward-looking summons. Obama’s is a constricted inward-looking call to retreat.
Kennedy opened the New Frontier. Obama has shut it.”

The dollar numbers to keep us in space are small as compared to our GDP. If you care about reasonable numbers?
A sad day for science based Skeptical thinkers.....

Any reasonable human should want to take steps to end needless abortion. It is a complicated subject about life, regardless of your beliefs or religion. There are obvious stressful situations and moments when the right to have an abortion is a compassionate choice for a woman. Of course, we are also faced with the religious mindset that actually every egg and sperm on earth should unite because that is what God wants! Until modern medical techniques, God randomly took many more countless lives of children through It's poorly designed and painful birthing process [a form of abortion]. And in third world countries [that God seems to overlook], children die from poor birthing procedures, disease, starvation, and brutal governments.
The religious Barna Institute finds that 70% of America's abortions are performed on Catholic and Protestant women. Where is the power of God? The possibility of any God existing would be greatly enhanced if It's believers would walk the walk! In accordance with a recent Cal Thomas column, that's 35,000,000 abortions by Godly followers since the 70's. Once the Christians set an example of reducing those numbers, we could effectively work on the 1% of Jews and 27% of non-believers that have abortions........
And why would any caring God advice humans to procreate with no regard to reality, responsibility or circumstance when It has given us the intellect to understand that off springs should be cared for and protected in a reasonable and humane fashion in this chaotic world.
It is very foolish when religions promote there is no need to be thoughtful and careful about responsible conception [oh, I forgot..."faith in abstinence"]. Third world countries are having children with nothing to look forward to but a death sentence.....and that is extremely detrimental to the health of the ones that do survive.
The first step in reducing abortion is education and contraception.....and continued religious resistance to contraception promotes random and uncontrolled births that end up as abortions and other deaths.
Most animal’s numbers are controlled by predators and nature. Humans have evolved with the intelligence to control their offspring based on responsible decisions and the ability to provide for their early years.
Using that unique power we could minimize abortions and better the lives of all newborns.....if religions would side with reason over questionable dogma.
Just maybe, there is a story out there about the mother who would not see the Super Bowl game someday because she tried to give birth against doctor's advice...lost the baby...and died!
And if there is no Heaven....and no one knows......what did she give her life for?
We need reason on both sides of the abortion issue...

I have always enjoyed the music of Charlie Daniels going all the way back to his pot smoking hell raising days of "Long Haired Country Boy." It was sad to see that he like all the rest of us are subject to having a stroke.....and he had one! His comment about the matter was he could see the "Hand of God" in every moment of the health emergency he faced.
Charlie reveals that his stroke was triggered by high blood pressure. "It had gotten higher than what I realized it was," he explains. "We have taken steps to remedy that, and we are back in the game."
Throughout his health scare, Charlie says he took comfort in realizing that "the fingerprints of God were all over" his experience ... pointing out that a plane was immediately available to take him from the slopes to Denver, and that the local hospital in Durango had only recently begun stocking the drug used to break up the blood clot in his brain. "It's just an absolute fact that God was looking after me," he says.
http://www.theboot.com/2010/01/22/charlie-daniels-stroke/
Men built the plane, developed the medicine and built the hospital that comforted this wealthy traveling musician. So it appears God gave him a life threatning stroke to test man's ever growing skills? God must have no problem using one of his believers as a rat in an experiment? And if Heaven is a better place to be, why would Charlie want God to save him anyway? He could play “Long Haired Country Boy for Jesus’s personal enjoyment for eternity! Religions need to try and bring reason and reality into their thoughts.
I wonder if Charlie Daniels can see the "Hand of God" in the tragedy, death and suffering going on in Haiti. Is God just testing those Haitians so see if man has built efficient rescue forces? God has no worry about taking tens of thousands of life for a test......
Men's minds work in strange ways....and that is why there are 10,000 religions!
Thank evolved common goodness for science, reason and technology!

| Surely, there should be the occasional time and place when circumstances transcend the usual and free us from the race-baiting and ignorance-pandering panhandling that characterizes so much of American politics: When God and Satan are given a holiday from the news cycle. When a president can be granted the pure motives of a good nation. When science isn't an insult to the divine and no demon earns credit for human misery. |
